CFC Underwriting said Tuesday it has appointed former Direct Line Group CEO Adam Winslow as group CEO, succeeding Louise O’Shea, who is stepping down but will remain a significant shareholder in the business.
Mr. Winslow most recently oversaw U.K. personal lines insurer Direct Line’s £3.7 billion ($5 billion) combination with Aviva. Before that, he was CEO of Aviva’s U.K. and Ireland general insurance business.
Ms. O’Shea was appointed group CEO in November 2023 and took up the role in January 2024 after serving as an independent nonexecutive director since 2021. Her appointment followed the departure of CFC’s founders after a Lloyd’s of London investigation into allegations of nonfinancial misconduct at the managing general agent.
Mr. Winslow’s appointment follows a succession process overseen by its board and Ms. O’Shea, CFC said. He is expected to join the business this summer, subject to regulatory approval.
In the interim, Andy Holmes, CFC’s group capacity director and a 23-year veteran of the company, will be acting CEO, CFC said.
