Coastal areas across Asia, particularly in Japan, eastern China and South Korea, face heightened flood risk ahead of what forecasters expect to be the most active northwest Pacific typhoon season in more than a decade, according to S&P Global Inc., Insurance Asia reported. An early May forecast by University College London’s Tropical Storm Risk predicts tropical activity will be about 25% above the 30-year average, increasing the likelihood of typhoon formation in the northwest Pacific.
