Coupang fined $409M over massive data breach
South Korea’s data protection regulator has fined U.S.-based e-commerce giant Coupang Inc. 624.6 billion South Korean won ($409 million) following a massive data breach that affected more than 37 million customers due to inadequate security, BleepingComputer reported. South Korean subsidiary Coupang Fulfillment Service Ltd. was also fined KRW248 million for unlawful collection and use of customers’ sensitive data.
