Amwins Specialty Casualty Solutions on Wednesday announced an expansion of its occupational accident insurance program for independent contractors beyond transportation risks, adding a two-tiered coverage structure aimed at a broader range of industries.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-based managing general agent said that the expanded program builds on five years of growth in transportation and is designed to provide coordinated workers compensation, occupational accident and contingent liability coverage for companies that use independent contractors, representing more than 7% of the U.S. workforce and are concentrated in industries with elevated injury risks.
Depending on the program, coverage limits include accidental death, dismemberment and paralysis benefits of $150,000 to $500,000; accident medical expense benefits of $500,000 to $1 million; temporary and permanent total disability benefits of up to $700 per week; nonoccupational accident benefits of $10,000 to $25,000; combined single limits of $500,000 to $1 million; and contingent liability coverage of $1 million to $2 million.
